The episode of "City" program, which broach the events, policy decisions, development, pressing problems and the solutions in the capital Ulaanbaatar, was prepared from Bangkok, Thailand. This time, type of public transport and its accessibility, which will perform an important role in reducing the traffic congestion in Ulaanbaatar, was emphasized.

City is alive. The life of the city and the citizens takes place in the continuous and unceasing movement. It is essential to manage this movement that flowing among the people, jobs, buildings and periphery in a smart and favorable manner. There is no difference in Ulaanbaatar in which the population concentration is increasing day by day. Traffic congestion is one of the major problems affecting the daily life of the residents of our city. In order to solve this problem caused by social and economic changes and urban planning blunders in the last 30 years, it is necessary to improve and diversify the means of public transportation.

Considered as a large city in Asia, Bangkok's public transportation can be highlighted in terms of accessibility, prices and options. As a big tourist "performer" and a city whose population is increasing day by day, Bangkok has diversified public transportation with the most options. For example, citizens and tourists are served by 13,500 buses that transport passengers to about 400 destinations. In addition, people can choose minibuses, metrobuses or special lines BRT, subway, moto transport, water transport and taxi. These public transports have many options in terms of price depending on speed, comfort, service time and direction. In other words, the opportunity that a person can quickly reach the destination from any location.

Public transport in Ulaanbaatar is dominated by buses. Therefore, the city administration is paying special attention to the renovation of the public transport fleet in stages and to the improvement of route planning and continues to take specific measures. As a result, new, comfortable buses that meet the demands of citizens have been put into service.

The Governor of the capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar said that due to factors such as the population, concentration, and traffic flow, the time has come to introduce mass vehicles.

He said, "For Ulaanbaatar, public transport should have many options, be comfortable and fast. In other words, it is necessary to improve services and accessibility, as well as to diversify. It can be subway, LRT, or special line BRT. Diversifying public transport creates a comfortable living environment for citizens. On the other hand, it is also a step that will bring a profound effect on the economy and increase the value of the city. Of course, the introduction of mass transport is not cheap. Therefore, we have other option but to rely on our existing resources and cooperation. On the other hand, the city administration is cooperating with the private sector to increase the accessibility of other means of transportation such as bicycles, scooters, and taxi services, and to improve the quality of services."
