On June 29, President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga received Democratic Party members who were elected to Parliament in the 2020 parliamentary election.

The head of state congratulated the new members of Parliament on their election success, which is sufficient to set up a party caucus in the legislative body. The president expressed that he believes in their ability to stand by their promises and keep voters’ trust.

The president also called on newly elected lawmakers to constantly put spotlight on issues of herders, agriculture and mining, while focusing on the revival of the economy.

At the end of the meeting, the lawmakers exchanged views with the president, who expressed his readiness for close cooperation.

On the same day, the president received representatives of political parties that ran in the 2020 parliamentary election.

The party representatives told the president that they established working group called “Fair Election” and briefly introduced their request submitted to the court and Prosecutor’s Office for investigation of a number of illegal actions that allegedly took place during the elections. They also submitted complaints to the president.

They expressed their interest in taking part in the investigations, and extensively discussed their view that the Election Law should be revised to serve each political candidate equally.

Upon receiving the complaints, the president promised to address them in accordance with the law. He brought up the importance of collaboration between political parties, looking at the fact that political parties and coalitions, excluding the
Mongolian People’s Party, had won 50-60 percent of all votes.

Present at the meeting were Chief of Staff of the President’s Office U.Shijir, Chairman of You Are Our Coalition N.Enkhbayar, Deputy Chairman of United Citizens Coalition Party Ts.Battuya, Chairman of Mongolian Green Party O.Bum-Yalagch, and Chairman of Ger District Development Party B.Batsukh.
