Over 250 young researchers convene for personnel capacity building

sudlaachThe Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and Mongolian Academy of Sciences (MAS) are hosting a two-day Personnel Capacity Building seminar and workshop on June 14 and 15, at Tanan Center. The seminar, first organized in 2010, is held every year under different themes. This year’s theme focuses on the Springer Nature and Research4Life database initiative, and the reporting and publication of research results. The seminar is being attended by more than 250 researchers from MAS, public and private higher education institutions, the National History Museum, and Mongolian Young Scientists Association. Minister of Education, Culture and Science L.Gantumur, MAS Deputy Chairman D.Regdel, and directors of universities, colleges, and the Mongolian Libraries Consortium also attended Tuesday's seminar. Opening the seminar, MAS Deputy Chairman D.Regdel said, “All of you will carry the weight of the Mongolian science sector in the future. Young researchers and scientists must be capable of finding information in their specialty from anywhere and be able to write academic papers on their work. Becoming able to acquire any information from the global science database is extremely important.” The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and MAS has established a five-year cooperation agreement with Springer Nature, one of the world'slargest publishers of academic journals and books. The agreement enables scientists, researchers, professors, and students of MAS, National University of Mongolia, Mongolian University of Technology and Science, Mongolian National University of Medical Science, Mongolian State University of Agriculture, and the Mongolian State University of Education to access 1,821 academic journals and nearly 600 open access journals on 11 subjects from 2016 to 2021. During the Personnel Capacity Building seminar Mongolian researchers will also have free access to over 69,000 titles from 185 publishers from 2016 to 2017 through the HINARI, AGORA, OARE, and ARDI programs of the Research4Life international initiative.
