Two silver and two bronze medals grabbed at Asian Wrestling Championship

The Asian Freestyle Wrestling Championship is being held in Astana, Kazakhstan, on April 9 to 14. The women’s tournament ended on April 12 and four female athletes from our national team won following medals:
- • In the 55-kg category, Ch.Otgontuya won the silver medal, defeated by China’s Pang Qianyu with a score of 2:6;
- • In the 53-kg category, honored athlete B.Bolortuya won the bronze medal by defeating Taiwan’s Meng Shuang Si with a score of 10:0;
- • In the 62-kg category, the world champion P.Orkhon won the silver medal, defeated by the Kyrgyz’s Aisuluu Tynybekova with a score of 5:9;
- • In the 72-kg category, E.Davaanasan won the bronze medal by defeating Taiwan’s Ping Tseng Hun with a score of 11:0.
With these achievements, Mongolian women wrestlers are ranking sixth out of 14 countries in the competition. The 2023 Asian Wrestling Championships is a part of preparations for the World Wrestling Championships to be held in Belgrade, where wrestlers will get a chance to win 90 quotas for the 2024 Summer Olympics.
