Air pollution level across Ulaanbaatar has reached an alarming level amid winter cold as indicated by real-time air quality indexes. The Real-time PM2.5 Air Quality Index signaled air pollution as “hazardous” at sensors in the Western Central Intersection, Zuun Ail and the Wrestling Palace on November 30. All The levels of PM2.5 particulates had reached over 430 micrograms per cubic meter at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at the sites. The Index lighted “hazardous” sign with a PM2.5 level of 956 micrograms per cubic meters in Bayankhoshuu, 919 micrograms per cubic meters at the Western Central Intersection, and 655 micrograms per cubic meter around Tolgoit area, 472 micrograms per cubic meter around Amgalan, 420 micrograms per cubic meter around Nisekh, and 437 micrograms per cubic meter around the US Embassy.
