Japan’s largest ad agency Dentsu to build AI center in Mongolia

One of the world’s biggest advertisement agencies and Japan’s largest, Dentsu, is seeking to integrate artificial intelligence in its marketing and advertisement through a proposed AI development center in Mongolia. Dentsu, through its newly acquired subsidiary Data Artist, will open an office in Ulaanbaatar and establish an artificial intelligence development center. The company has said its acquisition of Data Artist, a Tokyo-based company considered to be one of the leaders in the development of AI for marketing, will help accelerate its implementation of AI. This January, Dentsu launched AI MIRAI, an integrated project team that drives the use of AI inside and outside the company. By making Data Artist a wholly-owned subsidiary, Dentsu said it will advance its growth strategy through the application of advanced technologies, including AI, in marketing. “The application of AI in marketing has been growing and the most urgent issue today is to secure and develop talent who are well versed in the latest technology,” Data Artist said. As a result, Data Artist will be focusing its sights on Mongolia to secure and develop the workforce it needs to develop its AI operations. “Mongolia is an attractive market with a wealth of strong mathematical skills, a prerequisite for the development of AI, thanks to the Mongolian government's effort in nurturing talent in math including participation in the International Mathematical Olympiad,” Data Artist stated. In the past, Data Artist has experience in recruiting Mongolian medalists at mathematics Olympiads who demonstrated their ability to contribute to Data Artist’s business success as an AI technologist. By establishing an AI development center in Mongolia, Data Artist is confident in their ability to attract highly qualified candidates with the necessary skills required for developing innovative, practical and efficient AI solutions. Dentsu and Data Artist have already been working closely since November 2016 through an equity partnership and several joint projects.
