Lawmakers boycott parliamentary session

Lawmakers hold a briefing on Thursday

On November 22, lawmakers including T.Ayursaikhan, L.Bold, L.Oyun-Erdene and J.Batzandan held a news conference about their protest against Speaker of Parliament M.Enkhbold.

At the beginning of the press conference, T.Ayursaikhan said that some lawmakers demanded the speaker several times to hold a parliamentary hearing and an irregular parliamentary session, but M.Enkhbold has been ignoring lawmakers’ demands for over a year.

L.Oyun-Erdene said, “To tell you the truth, the state of Mongolia is not governed by Parliament, the people of Mongolia, or a political party, which has been administrated by a group defending the interests of several companies for many years, the Constitutional Court, the Independent Agency Against Corruption, and the court cannot break M.Enkhbold’s power. In response to the touch on M.Enkhbold’s interests, he is trying to disband Cabinet, dissolve Parliament and push the country toward political instability, which is why nearly 40 lawmakers have joined M.Enkhbold’s dismissal.”

“M.Enkhbold is the final wall defending the group’s interests, so we will not attend a parliamentary session until M.Enkhbold steps down from his position at his own request to break the circle that controls the nation’s law enforcement authorities and avoid the dissolution of Parliament,” L.Oyun-Erdene noted.
