The Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences is building the first university campus in Mongolia. The first phase of the project has been completed by commissioning the International School of Medicines and Mongolian Medical Science and Traditional Medicines Hospital on December 10.

Director of Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences J.Tsolmon said, “The foundation of our university was first laid when the National University of Mongolia opened a Faculty of Medicine in 1942. In these past years, we have trained over 90 percent of employees working in the health sector. Our university established its main building in 1954, the Nursing School in 1986, the School of Dental Medicine in 2010, and School of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2014. And now, I am proud to announce that we have commissioned A and B buildings of our new university campus.”

The new buildings will allow the university to increase the number of professors to more than 900 and the number of students to 12,000, J.Tsolmon reported. The A and B buildings are fully equipped with the latest technology and equipment and opens opportunities to provide at least 110,000 types of secondary healthcare services, including spring water and mud treatment, acupuncture, and medical massage therapy.

The Japanese government has invested over 170 billion MNT to assist the campus project, according to the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences. The university is confident that the new learning environment will help train and educate skillful healthcare professionals. The campus is also expected to considerably reduce traffic in the capital as it is built on the outskirts of the city.

Next, the project will build an apartment for teachers and staff, student dormitory, and Mongolian-Japanese botanic hospital.
