Mayor checks on operations of emergency officials

Ulaanbaatar Mayor S.Amarsaikhan paid a “surprise visit” to the Information and Prompt Management Center of the General Police Department to check on their operations on January 10. The mayor met with officials and operators of the Information and Prompt Management Center which provide emergency services in the case of fire, crime and other kinds of violations. They talked about their work environment, workload, emergency calls from citizens, the scope of service, technical condition and pressing issues.  The mayor also spoke to people who called the center by phone.

D.Lhagvadulam, who has been working at the center for over 10 years, said, “The number of calls on Friday is relatively high because it is the last day of work. There are many celebrations, alcoholism, movement, and domestic violence and\ other kinds of crimes are high on this day. At the moment, 37 vehicles are currently operating and we can see their location by GPS. Sometimes, emergency vehicles can take 20 to 30 minutes to reach their destination due to traffic.”

Mayor S.Amarsaikhan highlighted that there are many complaints related to emergency services such as slow emergency service, incomplete service, and poor communication. “Of course, we understand that the workload of doctors, police, and emergency officers are overwhelming. But you need to understand that there are many frustrated or anxious people who
need quick emergency services calling and you need to be more patient and responsible.”
S.Amarsaikhan then met with Head of the Information Analysis and Operations Management Division of the General Police Department O.Zorigt, Head of the Information Management Center of the General Police Department T.Lkhagvasuren, Colonel L.Ganbayar, Major T.Bat-Ider, and Major D.Khishigbaatar to talk about their operation.
O.Zorigt said, “We have been testing a system which provides an automated message response since January to improve emergency call service quality.” Officials mentioned that there is a need to increase the number of the ambulance and emergency vehicles for quicker service, make addresses in the city clearer and improve CCTV monitoring.
