On April 1, Head of the National Center for Infectious Diseases D.Nyamkhuu reported that two more imported cases of COVID-19 have been detected in Mongolia, during the briefing of the Ministry of Health.
On March 28, three Turkish people Mongolia arrived on a Seoul-Ulaanbaatar flight. Three days after arrival, she tested positive for the coronavirus. Ten people who had direct contacted and served to them have been isolated for testing and are under doctor’s supervision. Test results of 25 people who were evacuated from Tokyo indicated that they haven’t contracted the coronavirus. Nationwide, everyone who recently suffered from lung-fever tested negative for the coronavirus.
Head of the National Center for Infectious Disease D.Nyamkhuu reported that repeated test results of 192 people isolated at the National Center for Infectious Disease, 42 at the Central Military Hospital, 24 in Zamiin-Uud soum of Dornogovi Province and five others tested negative. On April 1, two suspected cases registered in Selenge and Darkhan-Uul provinces. Also, 26 people discharged from the National Center for Infectious Disease today.”
A woman in Mandal soum, Selenge Province who came from Istanbul, Turkey on March 10 had fever and signs of coronavirus. At the time, new arrivals were not required to be quarantined but advised to self-isolate for 14 days. She didn’t notice any symptoms at the time, but had later had a fever and contacted the soum’s hospital last week. An emergency team from Selenge Province hospital performed tests, which will yield results in the coming days.
Previously, 11 Mongolian nationals and one French man tested positive for the coronavirus in Mongolia. Two patients were discharged from the hospital on Monday after recovery.
251 Mongolians evacuated from Seoul
According to the government of Mongolia, 251 Mongolian nationals came on the Seoul-Ulaanbaatar evacuation flight on April 2. The flight departed from Seoul to Ulaanbaatar at 2:20 p.m. and landed at Chinggis Khaan Airport at 5:00 p.m. The plane was supposed to depart at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, but the schedule was changed on Wednesday night.
Another evacuation plane departed from Ulaanbaatar at 1:00 p.m. on April 2 to Japan and landed at 7:20 p.m. in Tokyo. The plane will spend a day in Tokyo to fly out with Mongolian nationals onboard between 8:30 a.m. and 1:05 p.m. on April 3. Evacuated adults are required to pay 1.05 million MNT and children over six will pay 630,000 MNT for 14-day quarantine. Children under five are exempt from payment.

China provides support
On March 31, Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation donated 500,000 N95 masks to Mongolia. At the handing ceremony, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs D.Davaasuren, State Secretary of the Ministry of Health Ya.Amarjargal, First Deputy Head of the National Emergency Management Agency G.Ariunbuyan, and staff of the Chinese Embassy headed by Ambassador Chai Wenrui attended the handover ceremony.
During the ceremony, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs D.Davaasuren expressed gratitude to China's contribution to the fight against COVID-19 and their material and emotional support.
Ambassador Wenrui said, “We will never forget all the support from the government, organizations and people of Mongolia who supported us during a hard time in China. As a contribution to Mongolia’s actions in response to COVID-19, China’s Alibaba Foundation is delivering this donation. There will be such donations further.”
On March 28, China donated humanitarian assistance worth 830,000 CNY to Mongolia for its fighting against the coronavirus spread. The assistance consists of medical items, including 5,000 rapid test kits, 500,000 disposable masks, disposable protective coveralls and gloves.
At the ceremony, Ambassador Wenrui expressed that Chinese people will fight together with Mongolians against the coronavirus, and said, “The outbreak of the coronavirus infection has become a serious challenge worldwide. The people of China were able to curb the epidemic within the country. Our current success is also connected with the support of Mongolians. The Mongolian government can combat COVID-19 and prevent its spread within the country.”

Comedy show attempts to boost immunity
On April Fools’ Day, Mongolian comedy productions Muruudliin Theater, Shildeg Ungu, Emotsi, Mask, Shine Uye and Agluu Entertainment staged a comedy shows on Wednesday.
Show was performed at the Corporate Hotel and Convention Center with no audience, but broadcast through C1 TV and its Facebook page to support immunity through laughter. Comedian L.Battulga, popularly known as Agluu, donated hand sanitizers and medicinal herbs to medical workers on Wednesday. He expressed his thankfulness for medical professionals.

Many countries around the world are creating a legal environment for coronavirus prevention. Russia has passed a law strictly enforcing the quarantine regime. As of now, 2,272 people have been quarantined in Mongolia. In our country, the coronavirus is mild and clinically obscure, so there is a high risk of the virus spreading in secret. Therefore, I would like to warn every citizen to be careful. If the ban is lifted one day, there is a 40 percent risk of the disease spreading. In China, for example, 1,541 infected people showed no symptoms of the coronavirus. Therefore, it is important to wear a mask. It is estimated that 30 to 40 percent of all confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection worldwide are asymptomatic. Therefore, initially asymptomatic patients were not included in the patient category. As of Wednesday, China registered 1,541 asymptomatic cases. There is a growing need for masks around the world because people without symptoms are at high risk of spreading the infection. As the incidence of infection increases, new facts about the disease emerge every day. For example, some countries report that there are many asymptomatic infected people registered in the population.
In Iceland, 50 percent of laboratory-confirmed cases were asymptomatic. Also, the US reported that over 25 percent of confirmed coronavirus cases were asymptomatic. So it is very important to wear masks. There is a potential shortage of protective equipment for health workers. About 90 percent of the US population is under house quarantine. Authorities in Washington highlighted that quarantine has reduced the spread of the virus.
Studies in the United States and Europe have shown that quarantine and distance communication are the most effective ways to prevent infection this time without a confirmed vaccine and treatment.

According to WHO, 827,419 cases of COVID-19 have been reported worldwide, killing 40,777 people. Three new African countries have been infected. China has been reporting asymptomatic cases on a daily basis since April 1.
When the test result, which is made within 24 hours, came out negative, people were discharged from hospital and people who were close with them have been isolated for 14 days. There are 130 new cases of asymptomatic cases in the country. As a result, a total of 1,541 asymptomatic cases were reported, 205 of which were imported.
In the last five days, the number of new cases has risen sharply, infecting all countries of the world. Mortality doubled last week. The mortality rate is 12 in Italy, 8.6 in Spain and 1.3 in the United States.

Imports of consumer goods continue normally through the ports of Zamyn-Uud, Altanbulag, and Tsagaannuur.
In the first quarter of the year, 105,000 tons of consumer goods were imported through Zamyn-Uud. The Altanbulag port receives an average of 10 vehicles a day, mostly transporting consumer goods, medicines and medical supplies. Domestic drivers who cross the border for transit transportation are isolated for 14 days. Currently, 42 drivers are isolated. The Tsagaannuur port receives nine to 10 vehicles a day, mostly for fuel imports.
The General Professional Inspection Agency prepared 16 gers for isolated drivers. The port is stocked with disinfectants and disposable personal protective equipment for workers.
