Update

Head of Surveillance and Operational Management Division of the Health Ministry

D.Narangerel:

The coronavirus has affected 205 countries to date, and there is a high risk of the disease spreading to African countries. No cases have been reported in 19 UN member states. Head of the World Health Organization (WHO) highlighted that countries around the world are facing such a big pandemic for the first time since World War II. Many countries around the world are creating a legal environment for coronavirus prevention. Russia has passed a law strictly enforcing the quarantine regime. As of now, 2,272 people have been quarantined in Mongolia. In our country, the coronavirus is mild and clinically obscure, so there is a high risk of the virus spreading in secret. Therefore, I would like to warn every citizen to be careful. If the ban is lifted one day, there is a 40 percent risk of the disease spreading. In China, for example, 1,541 infected people showed no symptoms of the coronavirus. Therefore, it is important to wear a mask. It is estimated that 30 to 40 percent of all confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection worldwide are asymptomatic. Therefore, initially asymptomatic patients were not included in the patient category. As of Wednesday, China registered 1,541 asymptomatic cases. There is a growing need for masks around the world because people without symptoms are at high risk of spreading the infection. In particular, children aged up to fifteen are becoming asymptomatic carriers of the virus, so it is recommended to wear masks regularly.

Head of the National Center for Infectious Disease D.Nyamkhuu:

Our country uses test kits provided by WHO and Japan, and the kits are currently available. We also have test kits from the Chinese government.

It has also been agreed to bring in coronavirus diagnostic equipment through special mission planes. It will be received soon. However, I would like to emphasize that real-time PCR is used to provide reliable results. As for the rapid diagnostics, we are using the best of the three types. The benefit of rapid diagnostics is that they can quickly diagnose infection.

Head of Foreign Relations and Cooperation Division of Health Ministry B.Yanjmaa:

As the incidence of infection increases, new facts about the disease emerge every day. For example, some countries report that there are many asymptomatic infected people registered in the population.

In Iceland, 50 percent of laboratory-confirmed cases were asymptomatic. Also, the US reported that over 25 percent of confirmed coronavirus cases were asymptomatic. So it is very important to wear masks. There is a potential shortage of protective equipment for health workers. About 90 percent of the US population is under house quarantine. Authorities in Washington highlighted that quarantine has reduced the spread of the virus.

Studies in the United States and Europe have shown that quarantine and distance communication are the most effective ways to prevent infection this time without a confirmed vaccine and treatment.

There have been 563 deaths in the UK in the past 24 hours, with the number of deaths in hospitals reaching 2,352.

In Italy, the death rate is close to the previous days, but the number of new infections has risen to 4,782.

In Germany, a risk assessment was re-conducted and a decision to extend suspension for movement of the population for another two weeks was made, until April 19.

In South Korea, 89 new cases were reported, 18 of which were reported from abroad or from isolated people. More than 600 cases have been reported across the country."

 Specialist of WHO O.Ariuntuya:

According to WHO, 827,419 cases of COVID-19 have been reported worldwide, killing 40,777 people. Three new African countries have been infected. China has been reporting asymptomatic cases on a daily basis since April 1.

When the test result, which is made within 24 hours, came out negative, people were discharged from hospital and people who were close with them have been isolated for 14 days. There are 130 new cases of asymptomatic cases in the country. As a result, a total of 1,541 asymptomatic cases were reported, 205 of which were imported.

In the last five days, the number of new cases has risen sharply, infecting all countries of the world. Mortality doubled last week. The mortality rate is 12 in Italy, 8.6 in Spain and 1.3 in the United States.

In a few days, the number of infections is expected to reach one million and the number of deaths expected to reach 50,000.

Currently, the incidence is relatively low in Central and South America and Africa, but the risk of serious socioeconomic consequences is high in these countries. WHO advised to take necessary social welfare measures for vulnerable groups.

Head of the Road Transport Policy Implementation Coordination Department of Ministry of Roads and Transport Development Yo.Jargalsaikhan:

In the first quarter of this year, domestic passenger travel decreased by 37.6 percent. Intercity freight continues normally. International passenger travel is restricted. People who crossed the border of Mongolian have been quarantined for 14 days and allowed to enter Ulaanbaatar. Imports of consumer goods continue normally through the ports of Zamyn-Uud, Altanbulag, and Tsagaannuur.

In the first quarter of the year, 105,000 tons of consumer goods were imported through Zamyn-Uud. The Altanbulag port receives an average of 10 vehicles a day, mostly transporting consumer goods, medicines and medical supplies. Domestic drivers who cross the border for transit transportation are isolated for 14 days. Currently, 42 drivers are isolated. The Tsagaannuur port receives nine to 10 vehicles a day, mostly for fuel imports.

The General Professional Inspection Agency prepared 16 gers for isolated drivers. The port is stocked with disinfectants and disposable personal protective equipment for workers.
