‘Vision-2050’ handed over to president

Chief of the Cabinet Secretariat L.Oyun-Erdene and members of the working group that oversaw “Vision-2050” handed over the policy document to President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga on April 3.

“With key objectives to avoid making the same mistakes in the past three decades and unite the previous accomplishments in the next 30 years, ‘Vision - 2050’ is a complex long-term policy document of Mongolia,” said L.Oyun- Erdene.

He also noted that the main reasons Mongolia's development programs, policy documents and projects have not been implemented well in the past are the instability of governance and failure of political parties to understand and implement national policy documents. “It is time to put the interests of the country first and unite our voices for development,” L.Oyun-Erdene said.

Upon receiving the document, President Kh.Battulga expressed his confidence that this document will serve as a foundation to achieving fulfillment of more than 500 policy documents approved in the last 30 years, but failed to be realized, and thanked for the scholars and working group members of “Vision- 2050” for their insights.

The long-term development policy document has nine fundamental goals and 50 development targets, which are carefully into three groups of actions divided into three 10-year periods -- 2020-2030, 2031-2040, and 2041-2050.
Citizen based approach is the core of this long-term development policy, and each target of the policy is aimed at improving the life of Mongolians.

“Vision-2050” was formulated by a working group headed by L.Oyun- Erdene, comprising of 1,500 people, including scholars, experts and state secretaries of 13 ministries, heads of government agencies, universities and representatives of non-government organizations.

Moreover, Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh, Speaker of Parliament G.Zandanshatar, heads of political parties and local administrations have received the policy document and it will be discussed by Parliament next week.
