Candidates submit asset declarations to IAAC

Candidates for the 2020 parliamentary election will submit their assets and income declaration (AID) to the Independent Authority Against Corruption (IAAC) from May 17 to 19. This is a new provision in the Law on Anti-corruption adopted on December 2019 along with the Law on Parliamentary Election.

In the past, those running in the election were required submit their asset and income declaration to the General Election Commission of Mongolia or constituency committee and the IAAC reviewed the declaration of only the winner.

However, starting this year, the new regulation will require candidates to submit their declaration electronically, and voters can monitor the changes of net worths of candidates before and after the election.

Head of Inspection and Analyses Department of the IAAC Ts.Tsetsegdelgerekh said, “Assets and income declarations of candidates were reviewed by the IAAC and General Election Commission on April 3. Candidates must provide the information of their own and family’s assets, income and their sources in detail.”
