Parties discuss bill on pandemic

During its regular meeting on April 20, the Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) caucus convened to exchange views on priority issues to be discussed during the spring session.

The MPP caucus discussed the bill on pandemic that is being developed in connection with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Lawmaker J.Enkhbayar said, “The bill is designed for dealing with social and economic challenges caused by the pandemic. Infected people around the world are committing acts of terrorism, such as fleeing isolation and deliberating dissemination. Therefore, the bill stipulates that the issue on regulating infringements related to fleeing isolation and deliberate dissemination through the Law on Infringements and Criminal Code.”

The bill will be effective only during the pandemic and will be repealed when the World Health Organization officially announces the end of the coronavirus outbreak.

The issues on cashmere, spring sowing, and support for small and medium enterprises were discussed by the caucus.

DP supports stimulating economy

The DP council in Parliament discussed the bill on pandemic and the revision on the Law on State Audit on April 20.

The council agreed that it is appropriate that the bill on pandemic stipulates five packages of proposals with 38 items submitted by the council to Cabinet to stimulate the economy. The proposals provide for amendments on the 2020 state budget to reduce the expenses of the appointment, celebration, meeting and conference.

In addition, the revision on the Law on State Audit submitted by Lawmaker L.Enkh-Amgalan was discussed by the council. Council members agreed that the revision needs to ensure the independence of the audit organization.

UCCP discusses loan extension resolution

UCCP met to discuss the implementation of the resolution on extending loan repayment by 90 days. The resolution was submitted by Cabinet and Mongol Bank’s Council for Financial Stability.

During the meeting, Loanholders’ Union expressed their views on the implementation of the resolution.

Head of the union Ts.Solongo said, “Small businesses are in a difficult situation as banks and financial institutions deducted loan repayments last month from individuals. At this time, demanding payment of interest on loans will put pressure on citizens.”

In this regard, UCCP decided to establish a working group to explore the issue.

Moreover, as more than 8,000 people have applied to return home from abroad, the working group will also draft a bill to regulate this issue.
