During its plenary session on April 29, Parliament discussed and supported the resolution on the e-transition of public service.
Lawmaker J.Ganbaatar introduced the proposals and conclusion of the resolution on measures to ensure financial and economic stability, prevent risks and execution of e-transition in public service due to the COVID-19 pandemic issued by the Standing Committee on Economy.
Members of Parliament expressed their views on the draft. Lawmaker D.Erdenebat said, “Some members of the Mongolian People’s Party announced that incentives of 20,000 MNT will given for every kilogram of cashmere sold.
Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Ch.Ulaan said in vain that cashmere will be sold for 100,000 MNT per kilogram, which resulted in the cashmere price drop.”
Lawmaker D.Eldev-Ochir noted that in order to control the price of cashmere, the government set the price, which will help herders. “It is a matter of state policy to pay attention to the herders and the country,” he added.
Noting that cashmere is a strategic product of Mongolia, Speaker of Parliament G.Zandanshatar said, “The issue of cashmere to be exported to the United States and other countries was discussed. Cashmere is a product with a potential export revenue of two billion USD [for Mongolia]. Therefore, the issue needs to be approached realistically without politicization.”
Minister of Health D.Sarangerel said, “I am not talking about a new building for the health sector in these difficult times. However, there is a necessity to pay attention to housing for doctors, specialists and health care staff. Initially, civil servants will be housed with 4,000 apartments. Eighty percent of them should be workers of the health sector. Other sectors are involved in housing programs within their respective sectors. This is not possible in the health sector.”
Speaker of Parliament G.Zandanshatar said, “Meetings on this issue were held several times with representatives of other relevant organizations. A survey of doctors, medical staff, and special and government officials living in ger areas was conducted and the issue of renting apartments was discussed. The working group considered that it is one-sided to include only medical staff.”
The resolution on measures to ensure financial and economic stability, prevent risks and execution of e-transition in public service due to the COVID-19 pandemic had 86 percent approval from members of Parliament.
