Mongolia now has 41 COVID-19 cases, reported Head of the National Center for Infectious Disease D.Nyamkhuu during the daily press briefing of the Ministry of Health on May 5. Three new cases of COVID-19 were detected from passengers of the evacuation flights from Seoul, South Korea on April 30 and Frankfurt, Germany on May 2.

Three patients, including one Turkish national, have recovered, which brings total recoveries to 13 in Mongolia. The recovered patients discharged from the hospital on Tuesday. The Turkish national was treated for 33 days after their arrival in Mongolia.

According to the decision of the government of Mongolia, three evacuation flights were arranged to Seoul, South Korea on April 30 and May 1, and to Frankfurt, Germany on May 2, bringing 805 Mongolian nationals back to the home country. All citizens who arrived from abroad have been isolated for 21-days and are being tested regularly for the coronavirus.

“Yesterday (May 4), a total of 307 samples was tested at five laboratories, including two in the National Center for Infectious Disease, one in the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases, one in Dornod Province and one in Darkhan-Uul Province.  No confirmed cases were reported from the 275 people who were evacuated from abroad and six people who were randomly tested. A driver of Petrochina Dachin Tamsag contacted a medical organization with high fever and throat ache. But PCR testing showed that he hasn't contracted the coronavirus. Some 26 drivers who traveled between Russia and Mongolia tested negative for the coronavirus,” noted D.Nyamkhuu.
