Seminar held on ethics of lawmakers

The Secretariat of Parliament of Mongolia organized a seminar for newly elected members of Parliament on June 29.

This is the first time such a seminar was organized by the Secretariat of Parliament.

At the opening of the seminar, Secretary-General of the Secretariat of Parliament L.Ulziisaikhan said, “Honorable, highly responsible and important duties are performed by members of Parliament.”

“During the Parliament of 2016 to 2020, the Strategic Plan of Parliament of Mongolia was renewed and approved. The plan approved in 2002 was revised 17 years after to redefine the vision and mission.”

“The Strategic Plan states, ‘We will build Parliament that respects the Constitution of Mongolia, democracy, human rights, common values, national interests, supports sustainable development, and the right of the people to govern.’ The Parliamentary Research Institute was established under the Secretariat of Parliament.”

“We hope that you will cooperate with us, submit your comments and suggestions, and make great strides in legislative, oversight, representation, and in improving the quality and effectiveness of parliamentary activities,” she said.

Officials of the Secretariat of Parliament provided information on parliamentary session, regulation of procedures, ethics of lawmakers, parliamentary oversight activities, and a member's budget, supplies and services.
