Minister discusses bilateral relations with foreign ambassadors

On July 20, Minister of Foreign Affairs N.Enkhtaivan met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Mongolia Lee Yeo-Hong to discuss bilateral relationship. The South Korean ambassador congratulated the Mongolian foreign minister on his recent appointment and wished success in his endeavors.

Voicing his gratitude for the letter of congratulations from his South Korean counterpart, Minister N.Enkhtaivan underlined that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Republic of Korea and that he is seeking to strengthen the two countries’ comprehensive partnership and boost trade, investment, and economic cooperation.

The minister expressed to continue to closely cooperate with the Korean side to support people to people exchanges, protect the rights of Mongolian nationals working, living, and studying in Korea, fight the COVID-19 pandemic, and repatriate citizens who have requested to return home.
Ambassador Lee Yeo-Hong pledged to put all of his efforts into elevating bilateral relationship to strategic partnership, maintain the frequency of high level political talks, and facilitating travel for citizens.

Hiroyuki.

At the start of the meeting, the ambassador congratulated the foreign minister on his appointment and wished success in his
endeavors.

Foreign Minister N.Enkhtaivan expressed gratitude for the congratulatory letter received from Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu, and noted that he will put his efforts into further strengthening the strategic partnership between Mongolia and Japan, and enhancing the partnership in the sectors of economy, trade, and investment.

Highlighting the crucial importance of close cooperation in order to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, Ambassador Hiroyuki
underlined that assistance in forms such as urgent soft loans from the government of Japan is currently being studied in the framework of bilateral and multilateral partnership. Expressing gratitude for the matter, the foreign minister requested the assistance to be provided in the near future as economic challenges have surfaced due to the pandemic. He put forth suggestions to introduce Japanese investment as well as advanced technology in Mongolia, and establish a model factory in the framework of supporting the export of Mongolia.

The two sides also discussed coming to a mutual decision on the mid-term program on developing relations between the two countries in the next four years, and ensuring sufficient preparations for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations from early on.

TURKEY


Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu has held a phone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia N.Enkhtaivan this week to congratulate him on his appointment.

Noting the expanding Mongolia-Turkey relations, Minister Cavusoglu emphasized the importance of increasing the trade volume between the countries.

For his part, Foreign Minister N.Enkhtaivan expressed his satisfaction with the current level of bilateral relations and cooperation, and conveyed a request to render necessary assistance and support to Mongolian nationals who are not able to return home due to quarantine regime and border closures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ministers exchanged views on intensifying economic cooperation, increasing trade and investment, including the development of the agricultural processing industry, and agreed to discuss these issues at the meeting of the Mongolian-Turkish Joint Committee and the consultative meeting of foreign ministries of the two countries.
