Split DP factions hold separate chairship elections

The Democratic Party (DP) chairship elections were held on March 28. In particular, the Internal Election Committee (IEC) of the party led by Kh.Altankhuyag organized the e-election for the post of the DP chair between 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.

This election saw the race between former lawmaker L.Gundalai, former Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ts.Oyungerel, representative of the Ulaanbaatar City Council M.Tulgat, Deputy Chair of DP Ts.Urtnasan and lawyer Ch.Unurbayar.

Party members voted on the Democratic Party application and by calling 77331206.

Moreover, the Internal Election Committee (IEC) led by I.Munkhjargal held the DP chairship election from 09:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the traditional paper format.

On March 27, I.Munkhjargal reported that the election will be conducted in the traditional paper form and in accordance with the pandemic protection regime.

“Preliminary voting was also successfully held on March 27 in Arkhangai, Bayankhongor, Zavkhan, Bulgan, Darkhan, Dornogovi, Orkhon, Uvurkhangai, Zavkhan, Uvs, Khuvsgul and Tuv provinces, which are included in the red zone of the pandemic,” he said.

D.Purevdavaa, O.Tsogtgerel, S.Erdenebold and O.Amartuvshin competed in the election organized by the IEC led by I.Munkhjargal.

The IEC led by Kh.Altankhuyag reported that I.Munkhjargal’s activities violate the law. “According to the party’s rules and regulations, I.Munkhjargal is not head of the IEC. He is using an invalid seal of the committee, and opened an account with Khas Bank with this invalid seal. That account is now closed,” Kh.Altankhuyag said on March 17.
