Voting begins for citizens living abroad

Voting for the 2021 presidential election for Mongolians living abroad is scheduled for May 30 and 31. In accordance with the decision, on May 30, voting began at the offices of 45 diplomatic missions of Mongolia in 30 countries.

A total of 7,394 voters abroad registered to vote within the legal deadline. They are able to cast their ballots in person between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. local time. Voters are also required to bring their national ID card or passport to the embassy.

As of 1:00 p.m. on May 30, Canberra time, out of a total of 767 registered voters residing in Australia, 405 people cast their ballots. As of noon on May 30 local time, 164 voters had cast their ballots in Tokyo, while in Seoul, 147 out of 1,077 registered voters had cast their ballots.

Moreover, voters can check their registration on the election.burtgel.gov.mn website of the General Authority for State Registration.

The General Election Commission will conduct the counting together with the voters in Mongolia in accordance with Article 69 of the Law on Presidential Elections.

In Mongolia, the polling day is scheduled on June 9.
