‘President-elect should declare National Day of Mourning’

On June 21, the Democratic Party (DP) held a press briefing on declaring a national day of mourning in connection with the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.

General Secretary of the party Ch.Unurbayar said that DP called on President-elect U.Khurelsukh to declare June 25 as national day of mourning.

“Today, there is nothing more precious than the life of a Mongolian. Tragically, more than 400 people have died nationwide due to the pandemic. Our problem is the pandemic. A president of Mongolia declares and celebrates a certain day as a national day. Instead of holding a parade on June 25, U.Khurelsukh should declare his inauguration day a national day of mourning,” he continued.

“The families of the 436 people who died due to the pandemic must be compensated. The authorities are talking about holding Naadam for 10 billion MNT. However, 4.3 billion MNT will be required to provide 10 million MNT in compensation to the families,” he added.
