Recently held horse racing and state worship ceremony in provinces violated Government Resolution No. 183, which prohibits public events such as horse races, worship ceremony, and anniversaries.

In accordance with the resolution, governors at all levels were instructed not to organize public events. 

However, from June 6 to 8, the eastern region horse race was held in Khulunbuir soum of Dornod Province, the central region race took place in Sukhbaatar soum of Selenge Province, and the western region race was organized in Jargalant soum of Khovd Province. In one race, an average of 400 horses competed. For instance, in the western region race, 406 horses took part.

Even President U.Khurelsukh attended the Heaven Hallowing State Worship Ceremony for Sutai Mountain on August 7.

Due to the increase in the spread of COVID-19 infection in rural areas, professional organizations recommended that provinces responsibly and cautiously make preparations for the start of the new school year on September 1.

However, the government resolution is not being followed and Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene and Chief Cabinet Secretariat Ts.Nyamdorj, who signed the resolution, are not taking any action.

Although religious ceremonies and festivals are being organized, farmers of Selenge and Tuv provinces are not allowed to sell their harvest in Ulaanbaatar. They requested to sell vegetables near Ulaanbaatar’s largest grocery stores and markets, but the relevant officials declined. Small businesses that want to work and earn money are not given the opportunity, but festivals and ceremonies that violate government regulation are being condoned, said farmers.
