Rio Tinto Mongolia partners to create green space at National Amusement Park

On October 6, a tripartite cooperation memorandum was signed by Rio Tinto Mongolia, the Ulaanbaatar Mayor’s Office and the Business Development Department of National Amusement Park LLC to undertake a restoration project at the National Amusement Park.

Minister of Justice and Internal Affairs MP Kh.Nyambaatar, Head of the Temporary Committee on Ulaanbaatar Development Policy MP E.Bat-Amgalan and MP G.Amartuvshin were present at the signing ceremony and expressed their gratitude to Rio for initiating the restoration project.

The city authorities are paying special attention to increasing green areas. In this regard, the National Amusement Park will be divided into two parts and landscaping work will be done in each section. Under the partnership, Rio will restore A part of the land, covering 10.2 hectares.

Rio Tinto Mongolia Executive Director Kh.Amarjargal said, “As part of our company’s social responsibility, the western part of the National Amusement Park, covering 10.2 hectares of public land, will be landscaped into a sustainable green area where citizens can spend their free time in a healthy and comfortable environment. In this regard, tenders will be announced for design and contractor selection and the project will be finished within four years.”

With the establishment of the tripartite memorandum of cooperation, the restoration of the National Amusement Park will be carried out step by step and construction work will begin in the first half of 2023.
