Purchasing LRT from Chongqing at factory price discussed

Car use of the capital city’s citizens, over-concentration and traffic congestion are increasing year by year. Therefore introduction of LRT in public transport to solve the problems was planned. Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar is working in Chongqing, China, and studied the city’s experience of mass transportation such as LRT, subway, and monorail. In order to reduce the over-concentration and traffic congestion, the introduction of short-time mass transportation solutions was studied. In particular, the Mayor discussed with the management of the Chongqing Metro factory about the possibility of purchasing LRT at factory prices.

Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar said, “In Ulaanbaatar, where more than half of Mongolia’s population, or 1.6 million people, live, the time has come to introduce subways and LRT that save people’s time by diversifying public transportation. In the past two years, research on the introduction of international experience and advanced technologies has been carried out within the framework of the city’s decentralization and congestion reduction. The importing of light trains from Japan and Germany are two to three times more expensive than those from China. Therefore, we got acquainted with the factory and light train, which introduced the Euro standard, works in the extreme climatic conditions of Mongolia, and is cheaper in terms of price. The possibility of supplying LRT and monorail from this factory in Chongqing at factory price was also discussed.”

Deputy Director Chongqing Metro factory Xiao Jingfei expressed, “Our factory’s light trains have been tested to be used in extreme climates with temperatures as cold as 40 degrees. For example, the monorail is currently in use in Jilin Province and Changchun, and the monorail has been introduced to public transport in seven cities around the world, including Japan. This vehicle has advantages such as short distance maneuverability and low noise level.”
