On September 13, the agreement on direct flights between Mongolia and the United States was approved at the government meeting. On this matter, the Minister of Road and Transport Development S.Byambatsogt provided information.

The Agreement between the Governments of Mongolia and the United States of America on Air Transport was signed in Washington last August during the visit of the Prime Minister of Mongolia to the United States.

As a result, direct flights to the United States are possible from Q2 2024. On average, about 60,000 citizens travel from Mongolia to the United States annually, spending 30 to 50 hours on a flight and 2,000 USD to 4,000 USD for a ticket. By having a direct flight, the price of the ticket will range from 1,000 USD to 1,500 USD, the time spent on the flight will be 10 to 12 hours and the cash flow that goes to other countries can be left domestically. Also, the competitiveness of national air carriers will increase, and there’s an opportunity for air communication and flight network to be improved. They plan to fly to San Francisco, USA firstly. In addition, the Ministry of Road and Transport Development has set the goal of expanding air traffic and rapidly increasing flight routes and frequencies in a short period of time and plans to establish airway cooperation with 10 countries in 2023 and 2024 in connection with the announcement of “Years to Visit Mongolia” by the government.
