Doctors continuously provide health service to herders

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) provides information on the emergency situation at 11 a.m. every day. As reported by NEMA, 50 soums of 11 provinces are facing an impenetrable ice that prevents livestock from grazing, as well as 135 soums of 17 provinces experiencing deep snow, and the situation in 66 soums of 17 provinces became zud like. Also, the spring has become severe in 51 soums of 21 provinces and four districts of the capital city. 

72,462 out of 189,283 herders in remote areas are in a difficult situation due to heavy snowfall, road and pass closures. In these herder families there are 2,556 pregnant women, 29,026 children aged up to five years old, 28,446 elderly people, 10,701 people with special needs, and 21,507 people with chronic diseases. Therefore, 203 resident doctors are working in the Health Center of soums and rural areas, 31 in Family Health Center, 47 in Provincial Hospital and Regional Diagnostic and Treatment Center. These resident doctors provided medical care and services. For instance, 2,446 children aged zero to five years old, and 325 pregnant women received medical care. Also, the residential doctors worked to provide health service for 4,223 cases for prevalent disease, and 564 emergency cases. In addition, there were 1,008 people who received psychological counseling. 

The Secretary of NEMA and Colonel, T.Bayarkhuu reported that, “In terms of donations, the NEMA had collected 3.1 billion MNT and the goods and materials worth 805.1 million MNT. Out of this, 701 million MNT merit of 41,484 goods and materials have been distributed and delivered to soums and provinces facing acute winter and spring.”

Furthermore, 94 percent of the whole territory of Erdenetsagaan soum of Sukhbaatar Province is covered with snow and is facing a severe winter situation. This soum has 1,324 herder families. In addition, the donation of 10 million MNT and 10 tons of flour were handed to herder families in five bags of Sukhbaatar Province. Also, according to the government's decision, the Agricultural Corporation under the Ministry of Food Agriculture and Light Industry provided 1,950 tons of fodder to the herders of Sukhbaatar Province. Out of those, 150 tons were distributed to as well as 120 units and 10 vehicles have been given to Erdenetsagaan soum of Sukhbaatar Province, and the work of opening roads and moving families from the snow is being organized.
