Khaan Quest military exercise commences

Khaan Quest 2016, an international peace operations training and practice aimed at improving the skills of troops for peacekeeping operations and to develop cooperation between military forces, launched at the Training Center of the Mongolian Armed Forces yesterday. Over 2,000 soldiers from 47 countries, including Australia, the U.S., Nepal, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the People's Republic of China, the Republic of Korea, the Czech Republic, India, Burkina Faso, Vietnam, Guatemala, Honduras, Great Britain, Indonesia, Cambodia, Kyrgyzstan, Canada, Qatar, Kenya, Malawi, Malaysia, Mongolia, Norway, Russia, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Romania, Singapore, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Tonga, Hungary, Uruguay, Fiji, the Philippines, France, Germany, Chile, Sweden, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, El Salvador, and Japan, are taking part in the joint training. The Ministry of Defense, General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces, United States Pacific Command (USPACOM), U.S. Marine Forces Command, and their subordinates and organizations will organize several activities during Khaan Quest. Under the USPACOM’s World Peace Initiative, the military forces will organize command and staff training and practice, field training and practice, and training for improving UN peacekeeping efforts based on the material base of Armed Forces Unit No. 311. Khaan Quest participants will conduct medical operations at General Education School No. 7 in Khan-Uul District, and veterinary operations at the bases of Armed Forces Unit No. 013 and 232. They are also expected to build a dormitory for 40 children at General Education School No. 4 in Tuv Province’s Zuunmod soum.
