SWITCH-Asia Regional Roundtable and Networking Event takes place in UB

The SWITCH-Asia Regional Roundtable and Networking Event “The Role of Non-State Actors in Switch-Asia” was held from June 2 to 3, at Best Western Premier Tuushin Hotel. SWITCH-Asia has started implementing its fourth project in Mongolia to support sustainable consumption and production in connection with the organization of the 11th Asia-Europe Meeting Summit, taking place from July 16 to 17 in Ulaanbaatar. State Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Green Development and Tourism of Mongolia Ts.Tsengel, Program Manager for China and Mongolia at the European Union Ronan Pecheur, and team leader of the SWITCH-Asia Network Facility Uwe Weber presented opening remarks at the roundtable event. Uwe Weber said, “Under the SWITCH-Asia program, we decided to issue four million EUR in financing for four projects in Mongolia. The main goal of these projects is to support green products, green labels, and develop the construction sector. “In 2014, SWITCH-Asia, the European Union, and People In Need NGO of the Czech Republic implemented a project for producing environmentally-friendly insulation material using sheep wool. In May, we started implementing a 1.25 million EUR project for supporting resource efficiency and production in the construction sector. The project will be implemented for four years, during which we will support small and medium-sized enterprises in producing pure products and to introduce the 3R concept to reuse, reduce, and recycle waste.” Over 70 representatives from 12 countries took part in the two-day event.
