The National History Museum of Mongolia has opened a mini film theater with support from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. Director of the National History Museum D.Sukhbaatar gave an speech at the opening. “We hope to increase the number of visitors by establishing the new mini film theater at the museum. The number of visitors to our museum reaches 85,000 people a year and 50 percent of these people are foreign tourists,” he said. “By commissioning the theater, we will premier historic and documentary films that are stored at our treasury.” He added that all the equipment meet international standards and that 44 million MNT was spent to set it up. The museum treasury holds a total of 56,000 exhibits and around 10 of them are historic films. The film features events of the Mongolian democratic revolution of 1990. “Our next target is to set up theaters at soum and provincial cultural centers all around the country. For starters, mini film theaters will be established at cultural centers of 14 soums,” stated D.Gantumur, Gead of the Cultural Policy and Coordination Department of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
