PM and President of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank discuss future cooperation

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Ch.Saikhanbileg met with President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Jin Liqun to discuss and exchange views on cooperation, and talk about financing for infrastructure projects. President Jin is in Mongolia to attend the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Finance Ministers’ Meeting being held in Ulaanbaatar from June 9 to 10. The PM said that Mongolia is seeking opportunities to finance specific infrastructure projects with AIIB funds. He said that Mongolia needs support for building roads, building a 267 km railroad connecting Tavan Tolgoi to Gashuunsukhait, and for building transit railroad connecting Russia and China. The AIIB President said that the bank wants more detailed information about the projects, and will decide on which projects to collaborate on after their analysts have been able to review them thoroughly. PM Ch.Saikhanbileg asked President Jin about the possibility of Mongolian personnel working for the AIIB. Jin said that Mongolians are very capable and professional, and such an opportunity is open to Mongolians.
