Under the strengthening of comprehensive strategic partnership relations between Mongolia and China, the two countries held their second strategic talks at the Deputy Foreign Minister level from June 16 to 17, in Ulaanbaatar. During the meeting, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs D.Gankhuyag and Assistant Foreign Minister of China Kong Xuanyou held official talks to review the bilateral relations of Mongolia and China and to discuss expanding mutual cooperation. The sides talked about a broad scope of issues concerning collaboration, including ways to implement agreements reached at a high level, enriching economic cooperation with new content, and increasing humanitarian exchanges. The ministers agreed to intensify cooperation between their foreign affairs ministries and to increase the number of high-level reciprocal visits in the near future. Following the meeting, the Chinese delegation paid courtesy calls on Prime Minister of Mongolia Ch.Saikhanbileg and Foreign Minister L.Purevsuren. At his meeting with the Chinese delegates, PM Ch.Saikhanbileg said that he was satisfied that the second strategic meeting between Mongolia and China was successfully organized in Ulaanbaatar. He said that there are some projects and proposals the Mongolian government would like to prioritize in its relations with China. The Prime Minister asked Foreign Minister Kong to deliver Mongolia’s proposals on the Tavan Tolgoi mine, Tavan Tolgoi railroad projects, and the Eg River Hydroelectric Power Plant project. He also asked for support in revising and establishing negotiations on Mongolia-China border port procedures and negotiations on railroads crossing the border; bringing the Gashuunsukhait to Gants Mod and Shiveekhuren to Sekhee ports up to international standards; and to provide support in continuing meat and meat product export to the Chinese market. The Prime Minister delivered greetings to his Chinese counterpart, Li Keqiang, and said that he hopes to meet Prime Minister Li soon to discuss a broad scope of issues concerning mutual collaboration between the two nations for the second time.
