State leaders receive President of Tatarstan to discuss collaboration

President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj and Prime Minister Ch.Saikhanbileg met with the President of the Republic of Tatartstan of Russia, Rustam Nurgaliyevich Minnikhanov, to discuss and exchange views on advancing cooperation and relations on Wednesday. At the start of the meeting, the Tatartsan President said, “Our visit to Mongolia is being held successfully. We have participated in a Mongolian-Tatarstan joint meeting. We are visiting Mongolia with a broad scope of representatives from the private sector and business. I hope that our joint meeting is fruitful.” President Minnikhanov said that Mongolia and the Republic of Tatarstan have great opportunities to develop their economic partnership and commercial ties. “We are connected through history, that’s why we believe that there will not be any obstacles in intensifying cooperation and relations between the two states,” underlined the Tatarstan President. At the meeting, President Minnikhanov highlighted Tatarstan’s experiences in the oil and petroleum processing industry, and said that Mongolia and Tatarstan have wide opportunities for cooperation in this industry. President Ts.Elbegdorj said that he was satisfied that the bilateral relations between the two states are intensifying with joint meetings and events. “I believe that your delegation consisting of various sector representatives will set up good ties with relevant Mongolian organizations and entities,” President Ts.Elbegdorj said. President Minnikhanov also met with Prime Minister Ch.Saikhanbileg to discuss economic relations and cooperation. During the meeting, the Prime Minister underlined that under the strategic partnership with Russia, Mongolia is interested in developing economic cooperation with Tatarstan. Ch.Saikhanbileg proposed collaboration for an oil refinery project, which is expected to be implemented by investors and businesses of Tatarstan. “The first oil project can be the foundation of Mongolia-Tatarstan friendship, as Erdenet Mining Corporation has become the eternal symbol of Mongolian-Russian economic ties,” noted the Prime Minister. Ch.Saikhanbileg said that Mongolian businesses are interested in the development of free trade zones and industrial parks in Tatarstan, and hope to supply meat to Tatarstan. President Minnikhanov supported the Prime Minister Ch.Saikhanbileg’s proposal in the oil industry. He noted that Tatarstan can supply petroleum to Mongolia, organize trade fairs and exhibitions with Mongolian businesses, and increase the flow of tourists to Mongolia. He also said that Tatarstan is ready to receive Mongolian business representatives. The meetings took place in the presence of Foreign Policy Advisor to the President A.Battur, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs D.Gankhuyag, Russian Ambassador to Mongolia Iskander Azizov, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Tatarstan Republic Albert Karimov.
