Both children and adults in Khan-Uul District can now enjoy their leisure time surrounded by greenery at a new park, which opened on Monday near 120 Myangat Bus Stop in Chinggis Avenue. The park, named “New Khan-Uul”, covers an area of 2.2 hectares and accommodates a water fountain, children’s playground, a cycling and skating track, an area with a natural rock formation, and green area. Mongol Tokh LLC built the new park through the order of the Ulaanbaatar Department of Investment and Khan-Uul District Mayor’s Office.       Before deciding to establish “New Khan-Uul”, the city authority had originally planned to construct a building on the 2.2 hectares of land in 2011, but the plan was scrapped when local residents protested and took legal action in 2012.   Authorities plan to open a shopping center, Wi-Fi hotspots and set up a board showing information and announcements about famous and notable residents of Khan-Uul District.
