The U.S. Embassy will be presenting the documentary film Live From UB, a movie that shows the recent history of Mongolia through rock music.
The movie will be screened free in Tengis Cinema on August 6, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The film will have English and Mongolian subtitles.
Lauren Knapp, Director of Live from UB, commented on her passion in Mongolian rock music, "I first became interested in Mongolia’s rock music when I traveled to the country in 2007. Having only known about its nomadic tradition, I was surprised to find such a vibrant and forward-thinking music scene. The country’s music and landscape stayed with me, and in 2011, I returned to the Land of the Blue Sky to research and film what would become “Live From UB”. Over the course of the year I spent living in Ulaanbaatar, I was pleased to be welcomed into a community of committed and passionate musicians—young artists trying to push the boundaries of their local music scene. I was also struck by the role that music had played in Mongolia’s development over the past few decades. It is both a catalyst for change and a reflection of the times." --
