China to provide 350 million CNY in aid for ger district development

Prime Minister of Mongolia J.Erdenebat held official bilateral talks with Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Keqiang on July 14, where Li  said China is willing to cooperate with Mongolia on the re-planning of ger districts with residential accommodations and infrastructure by rendering grant aid of 350 million CNY. Prime Minister J.Erdenebat thanked the Government of China for providing assistance to Mongolia in hosting the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit. The Prime Minister said that the Government of Mongolia will carry on implementing its policy to develop mutual relations and collaboration with China. Premier Li congratulated the recently appointed Prime Minister for taking office and invited him to visit China. During the bilateral talks, the sides discussed cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, infrastructure, and regional and border matters. The Premier also expressed China’s willingness to collaborate with Mongolia on the improvement of Mongolia’s infrastructure, production of construction materials, as well as processing agricultural items. Highlighting that grant aid and soft loans provided by the Government of China have been great contributions to the development of Mongolia, J.Erdenebat expressed gratitude to the Government of China for writing off Mongolia’s outstanding debt to the neighboring nation.  J.Erdenebat welcomed more investment from Chinese firms, adding that Mongolia is in favor of starting a feasibility study for a free trade pact. Following the talks, J.Erdenebat and Li witnessed the signing of 15 cooperation agreements ranging from trade, technology, and infrastructure to radio and television broadcasting. The two leaders also attended the launch ceremony of a facility dedicated to helping Mongolia's disabled children, which was funded and built by Chinese donors.
