ASEM leaders assert 11th Summit was the most fruitful in recent years

The 11th Asia-Europe Meeting Summit of Heads of State and Government, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), was successfully hosted by Ulaanbaatar. Hosting the summit under the theme “20 Years of ASEM: Partnership for the Future through Connectivity”, Mongolia was at the center of the world's attention on July 15 and 16. The summit was attended by the heads of 53 ASEM partner countries, 11 presidents, 23 prime ministers, 13 foreign ministers, three special envoys, and the heads of the European Union  and ASEAN. The President of Mongolia commenced the closing conference of the summit expressing condolences for the people of France and Turkey affected by terrorism and violence, and thanked the 52 state leaders and officials for attending the summit. “During this two-day event, Mongolia had 60 bilateral meetings,” he said, noting that there  were more than 100 bilateral meetings held by other countries in Ulaanbaatar. Concluding the 11th ASEM Summit, the summit's leaders presented the ASEM Chair’s Statement and Ulaanbaatar Declaration on July 16. A closing press conference was held on Saturday with remarks from President Ts.Elbegdorj, European Council President Donald Tusk, European Commission President Jean Claude Juncker, Myanmar's President U Htin Kyaw, and Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico.
