Top government officials met with Olympic silver medalist D.Sumiya (judo), Olympic bronze medalist D.Otgondalai (boxing) and their coaches on August 30 to award them cash prizes for winning medals at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Prime Minister of Mongolia J.Erdenebat presented the cash prizes to D.Sumiya, D.Otgondalai, senior coach of the Mongolian national judo team O.Baljinnyam, and senior coach of the national boxing team D.Batsuren. According to a government resolution, Olympic silver medalists are to be awarded 60 million MNT, and their coaches are to receive 30 million MNT. Bronze medalists are to be awarded 30 million MNT and their coaches are to receive 15 million MNT. You didn’t lose Mongolia’s trust and contributed to Mongolia’s Olympic medal tally. I would like to express my gratitude, and also thanks on behalf of the Government of Mongolia. We hope you will achieve more at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.” On August 29, Minister of Justice and Internal Affairs S.Byambatsogt and officials of the General Authority for Border Protection received Rio 2016 Olympic medalists D.Sumiya and D.Otgondalai to congratulate them. During the meeting, Ministry of Justice and Internal Affairs and General Authority for Border Protection handed a key to a three-room apartment to silver medalist of the women’s 57 kg judo event of Rio 2016 D.Sumiya, and a two-room apartment key to bronze medalist of the men’s 60 kg boxing event of Rio 2016 D.Otgondalai. Lieutenant D.Otgondalai has been a member of Khilchin Sports Committee of the General Authority for Border Protection for eight years. D.Otgondalai expressed his gratitude to Khilchin Sports Committee’s authorities for supporting him, and promised to earn a gold medal at the 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championship, which will be held in Germany. D.Otgondalai said, “I want to work for the General Authority for Border Protection when I retire from boxing.” State Honored Athlete D.Sumiya entered Khilchin Sports Committee in 2010.
