AmCham Service Day 2016 takes place

The American Chamber of Commerce in Mongolia (AmCham) organized its first annual AmCham Service Day on April 2, focusing this year's volunteer efforts on working with the Veloo Foundation’s Children of the Peak Sanctuary. Over 20 AmCham staff and AmCham members spent the day volunteering with the students at the kindergarten and assembling a new library for the sanctuary, which will serve as a literacy center for the kindergarten and a resource center for children and adults from the community, offering access to books, computers with Internet, and various programs. The Veloo Foundation’s Children of the Peak Sanctuary provides educational resources and a kindergarten education to over 120 impoverished children. The foundation works to alleviate the suffering and neglect of the most vulnerable and marginalized children in an Ulaanbaatar neighborhood where many residents make a living, and feed and clothe their families, with items scavenged from the district's rubbish dump. AmCham’s Vice Chairman G.Magnai, Mayor of Ulaanbaatar E.Bat-Uul, and Chairman of Citizen's Representative Council of Songinokhairkhan District Kh.Nyambaatar delivered keynote remarks during the ribbon-cutting ceremony kicking off AmCham Service Day.
