The seventh Uchirtai Gurvan Tolgoi (Three Dramatic Characters) audition com- petition for the selection for protagonists of “Uchirtai Gurvan Tolgoi” opera was organized from March 25 to 31. There are four main roles in “Uchirtai Gurvan” Tolgoi opera, namely Yunden, Nansalmaa, Balgan and Khorolmaa. First prize winners include: E.Bumkhuu for the portrayal of Yunden, B.Enkhsaran as Nansalmaa, O.Khurelbaatar as Balgan, and S.Batchimeg as Khorolmaa. The winners are all artists of the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet. Second place prize went to Grand Prix winner of Universe Best Songs competition B.Javkhlantugs, singer of the Musical Drama Theater of Dornod Province O.Oyuntsetseg, singer of the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet S.BatErdene, and State University of Arts and Culture student Ts.Shinebayar. The first prize winners were awarded 2.5 million MNT each, and second prize winners received two million MNT. Over 60 singers competed in three stages. The contestants sang traditional folk songs in the first round. In the second round, contestants sang aria and duet songs. In the third round, they sang songs from “Uchirtai Gurvan Tolgoi” opera. The competition was co-organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, Mongolian Arts Workers’ Association, Office of the Tuv Province Mayor and State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet.
