President Kh.Battulga takes office

The inauguration for newly elected President Kh.Battulga took place on July 10 at the State Palace, and outgoing President Ts.Elbegdorj presented Kh.Battulga with the state seal. During the inauguration’s opening remarks, Kh.Battulga said, “I will work my best to keep Mongolians’ great hope in electing me as the President of Mongolia and Commander-in-Chief.” Kh.Battulga underlined that he will “strive to collaborate with Parliament and the Cabinet to fight unemployment and poverty, which is threatening our national security.” He noted that he will support robust policies and decisions made by Parliament and the Cabinet, but will demand them to improve incomplete policies, decisions, laws, and regulations that involve people’s rights. Kh.Battulga highlighted that he will be a president that “pursues friendship; protects national interests, freedom, justice, and citizen’s rights; recovers the nation’s economy; develops the country’s industries; promotes ecological protection; starts a new era of exports; and forms mutually beneficial foreign relationship.” He added that he will actively work to make Mongolia a manufacturing country, and noted that he will focus on boosting friendly relationships with Russia and China in all areas and concentrate on Mongolia’s third neighbor policy. On July 10, President Kh.Battulga received Aide to the President of the Russian Federation Igor Yevgeniyevich Levitin, Aide to the Prime Minister of Japan and Chair of the Japan-Mongolia Friendship Group of the House of Representatives of Japan Motoo Hayashi, Ambassador of China to Mongolia Xing Haiming and Ambassador of the European Union to Mongolia Hans Dietmar Schweisgut to exchange views on relations and cooperation between Mongolia and their respective countries and organizations.
