Cabinet Secretariat discusses developing leather processing industry with Turkish Trade Minister

Cabinet Secretariat J.Munkhbat met with Deputy Minister of Turkey’s Ministry of Customs and Trade Fatih Ciftci on Monday at the State Palace to talk about trade and economic cooperation and possible areas for collaboration between the two countries. J.Munkhbat stated that as the two countries have set a goal to reach bilateral annual trade turnover of 250 million USD in the near future to take mutual economic cooperation to a new level, the government of Mongolia is ready to help organize business forums between the two countries’ chambers of commerce and entrepreneurs. He highlighted that the two countries have cooperation opportunities in the leather processing industry as Mongolia has major resources of leather products and the Turkish leather processing industry is competitive in the world. He added that agriculture, road and transportation, tourism, light industry and investment are main targets for the two nations to develop further mutual economic cooperation. The Turkish deputy minister said that he is pleased to have developed collaboration between customs and trade organizations of the two countries, and there are possibilities to develop cooperation of handcrafts industries to promote collaboration between small and medium-sized enterprises of the two countries. During the meeting, the sides agreed to hold a Mongolia-Turkey intergovernmental commission meeting soon. The issues discussed by the two ministers will be reviewed as agendas for the intergovernmental commission meeting.
