Speaker M.Enkhbold receives Turkish and Japanese delegates to talk about cooperation issues

Speaker of Parliament M.Enkhbold held meetings with Ambassador of Turkey to Mongolia Ahmed Yazal and head of the Society for Mongolia-Hokkaido Economic Relations Promotion Tsumotu Takebe on September 13 to discuss bilateral relations. During the meeting with Ambassador Yazal, M.Enkhbold discussed a soft loan of 300 million USD, which will be granted by the government of Turkey to Mongolia, and increasing the number of seats and frequency of Turkish Airline’s flight between Ulaanbaatar and Istanbul. Ambassador Yazal noted that if the government of Mongolia provides a loan guarantee, the two countries will be able to negotiate on the terms and interest rate of the loan. Speaker M.Enkhbold emphasized that as officials of the two countries’ ministries in charge of matters regarding the Turkish Airline’s flight will meet soon to negotiate on the issue, a decision will be made on Turkish proposals to increase its flight’s frequency and capacity. He added that as tourism cooperation is of great benefit for the two countries, he supports the Turkish proposal to establish a tourism complex in Mongolia’s Orkhon Valley. During his meeting with the Japanese delegation, Speaker M.Enkhbold underlined that Mongolia’s Parliament is focusing on successfully implementing projects and programs included in the mid-term program for the development of the economic partnership between the two countries to be carried out from 2017 to 2021, which was signed by the foreign affairs ministers of the two countries in March. Takebe stated that the representatives of the two countries agreed to set up a working group to deal with challenges at the second Mongolia-Hokkaido business forum held on Monday in Ulaanbaatar. He asked the Speaker to focus on launching operations of the new international airport in Khushig Valley, which is being built with Japanese financing, as soon as possible. He added that he will focus on launching a direct flight between Ulaanbaatar and Hokkaido after the new airport opens.
