Kuwait opens housing project for flood victims in Bayan-Ulgii Province

The State of Kuwait has opened a housing project in Mongolia for the victims of floods in Bayan-Ulgii Province, the Kuwaiti Embassy reported on September 20. In the Muslim majority Bayan-Ulgii Province, the 274,000 USD housing project named Fareej Al-Kuwait (Kuwait's neighborhood) was opened in the presence of Kuwaiti Ambassador to Mongolia Khaled Al-Fadhli. In a statement by the Kuwaiti Embassy, Ambassador Al-Fadhli said that the project consisted of 35 housing units, a Mosque, a medical facility, and a recreational park for children. He affirmed that the project was in line with Kuwait’s Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah directives to provide aid to those who are in need around the globe. Reflecting Mongolia's gratitude towards Kuwait, Bolormaa Nordov, Secretary General of the Mongolian Red Cross Society, thanked the Gulf Cooperation Council nation for its generous efforts, affirming that the victims of the floods were grateful for this support. Previously, Kuwait's Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs provided around 60,000 USD to construct water wells and electricity in the flood-stricken areas. In February 2016, the Kuwaiti Embassy extended 81,000 USD from charitable foundations as part of winter assistance to Mongolia.
