Cabinet Secretariat holds online meetings with province mayors

On November 1, Cabinet Secretariat G.Zandanshatar held online meetings with mayors of 21 provinces to oversee their winter preparation and the new government action plan. G.Zandanshatar told all mayors that the new government is urging local government officials at all levels to strengthen fiscal discipline, ensure accountability and provide local residents with fast and accessible government services. He also warned mayors to focus on preparing well for winter and provide soums in remote areas with enough hay, coal and fuel reserves to prevent unexpected winter challenges. Some mayors asked Cabinet Secretariat G.Zandanshatar how U.Khurelsukh’s Cabinet will work to reduce unemployment and create more jobs in provinces and soums. The Cabinet Secretariat said that the government plans to acquire a loan of 60 million USD from the Asian Development Bank to promote small and medium-sized enterprises and create jobs in rural areas. The Mayor of Umnugovi Province asked the Cabinet Secretariat when the government will tackle challenging issues regarding coal transportation and other problems at Gashuun Sukhait border checkpoint and Tsagaan Khad customs in the territory of the province. G.Zandanshatar replied, “I am working with Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry D.Sumyabazar and Minister of Roads and Transportation J.Bat-Erdene to deal with these challenges by increasing the border checkpoint’s capacity and taking other measures. The government will set up a task force soon to resolve this matter”.
