Mongolian and Japanese dancers to perform `Beyond Borders’

On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Japan, dancers of the two countries will stage a modern dance concert titled “Beyond Borders” on November 18 at the Corporate Hotel and Convention Center. Young Mongolian artists working and living in Japan initiated the concert to entertain Mongolian audiences with contemporary dance. The initiative is supported by the Mongolian Embassy in Japan. Currently, the dancers are conducting joint rehearsals in Mongolia. The project’s coordinator and producer, State Honored Artist Kh.Gerelchimeg, said, “The two countries’ dancers are exchanging experiences and Mongolians are learning from Japanese choreographers through the joint concert. Dancers are also gaining deeper insight into modern dance.” Japanese dancer and choreographer Jo Funaki and his wife Yu Funaki are working as director of “Beyond Borders”. Dancer of Japan Sayaka Yabuta and Mongolian dancers who previously worked at the State Academic Theater of Ballet and Opera A.Khangai, B.Batbold and O.Lkhagvasuren will perform at the event. The concert has two parts. In the first part, the dancers will deliver Jo Funaki’s “Beyond Borders”, and modern dances choreographed by Mongolian and Russian artists will be showcased in the second part.
