During the General Election Commission’s (GEC) regular meeting, the polling day for 2021 presidential election for Mongolian citizens living abroad was set for May 30 and 31, in accordance with Article 8.3 of the Law on Presidential Election.

The GEC also finalized a schedule for organizing the 2021 presidential election and established the Central Commission with seven members, based on a proposal from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to organize the polling of voters abroad for the presidential election of Mongolia.

During the meeting, the schedule for the by-election in Songinokhairkhan District was approved.

D.Sumiyabazar, who was elected from Songinokhairkhan District to Parliament, was appointed as Ulaanbaatar mayor and stepped down from Parliament. Therefore, the by-election will be held in the district to fill the vacant seat in Parliament.

The activity of the regular presidential election started on January 25 and the polling day is scheduled for June 9, 2021.
