25 wildfires broke out in 17 soums of eight provinces, including Bulgan, Dornod, Sukhbaatar, Selenge, Tuv, Khuvsgul, Bayan-Ulgii, and Uvs provinces on April 10. For instance, firefighters extinguished the wildfire that broke out in the “Khadiin Bulag” bag of Erdenetsagaan soum, Sukhbaatar Province, on April 8, which spread to other regions. Sukhbaatar Province Emergency Department, Dornod and Sukhbaatar Provinces Border Guard Units, Disaster Protection Service of Matad, Khalkhgol soums of Dornod Province, Erdenetsagaan soum Sukhbaatar Province, members of professional units, and citizens worked to extinguish the wildfire outbreak. On the evening of April 10, the temperature was cold at the fire site with strong winds. Taking advantage of this weather condition, efforts were made to limit the fire spread, and thankfully, the fire outbreak was brought under control.
Colonel Ts.Nyambayar, Head of the Fire Fighting Department of the National Emergency Management Agency, reported that on April 10, “The center of the fire occurred on April 8 in Erdenetsagaan soum of Sukhbaatar Province, which spread to Matad and Khalkhgol soums of Dornod Province that is being extinguished as we speak. Moreover, a group led by the head of the Emergency Department of Bulgan Province, Sh.Baasandorj, are working to extinguish the fire, which was registered in Khutag-Undur soum of Bulgan Province.
He then continued, “The fire that broke out on April 8 in Yeruu soum of Selenge Province was extinguished and firefighters from Tumentsogt soum of Sukhbaatar Province are working to put out the fire in Bulgan soum of Dornod Province. There is a high level of dryness in the whole area. According to the warnings given by the relevant professional organizations and the weather information, fire that broke out could cover a large area in a short period.”
As the wildfire keeps spreading due to difficult weather conditions, the officers of the Emergency Department of Khentii and Sukhbaatar provinces went on the road to increase their strength in extinguishing operations. In addition, in the coming days, the spread and intensity of wildfires will be extreme due to the high wind speed in the whole area.
