‘100 Ail’ construction trade center pollutes citizens, but still no actions carried out to relocate

high-risk of flammable and combustible construction material warehouses and factories located in “100 Ail” building materials trade center located in Sukhbaatar District, are polluting the environment which then lead to the violation of the Constitution, Law on Land, Customs Law, and Urban Development Law. Considering that the trade center has been violating the rights of citizens in this area to live comfortably and safely, it was decided to be moved at the 2018 meeting of the Citizens Representative Khural of the capital city. However, it has been six years since then with no measures being taken. There is a survey that there are more than 800 individuals and businesses that have received permission from the Sukhbaatar District’s Tax Agency. On the other hand, 320 individuals and enterprises are operating without any permission in that area.

The most dangerous thing in that area is that there are five health institutions that provide public services, such as the Sukhbaatar District Hospital and the National Center for Dermatology, as well as two schools for children with special needs, and one kindergarten. Therefore, patients receiving medical treatment, students, young children, and residents living in this area are suffering from the negative effects of the flammable and combustible construction material warehouses and factories. Due to the fact that the people getting the public health service in the Sukhbaatar District Hospital, they are getting worse instead of getting better. In addition, the traffic jams have reached the peak since the beginning and the establishment of this construction materials market, and even a child died because an ambulance was stuck in a traffic jam for more than an hour on its way to the hospital.

Furthermore, the relevant official said when they were asked about the “100 Ail” building materials trade center’s eviction process and timeline, “As part of the capital city's deconcentration and congestion reduction policy, the “100 Ail” building materials trade center is planned to be relocated to the construction material production technology park of Nalaikh District, the newly commissioned new construction market, and the “Barilgachin” Market step by step.” As we said before, there are still no concrete actions that have been taken.
